Fans of the classic game Bloodborne are once again feeling the effects of disappointment as a popular mod aimed at enhancing its performance has been removed. With no new updates from either Sony or FromSoftware, enthusiasts have taken the initiative to upgrade their beloved PS4 title, including the introduction of a 60fps mode.
This fan-created mod, which debuted in 2021, rapidly attracted a substantial audience because of its effectiveness. However, recently, Sony decided to withdraw its support for this mod, as they issued a takedown notice to its developer, Lance McDonald, compelling him to comply.
McDonald shared the news on social media, stating that he received a DMCA takedown notification from Sony Interactive Entertainment, which requested the removal of links to his patch from the internet. Following the request, he promptly took down the availability of the mod.
Despite the removal, some members of the community have managed to re-upload the mod, allowing others to access it once again. Additionally, there are suggestions that players can still experience Bloodborne at 60fps through an emulator, providing an alternative for those who desire the enhanced performance.
There’s a sense of speculation that this action might hint at something official being in the works from Sony. As the 10th anniversary of Bloodborne's release approaches, expectations are rife. However, given past experiences where fans’ hopes were raised only to be disappointed, many are cautious about getting too excited this time.
